Simon Pfister was born in Zurich in 1990, but spent his childhood years in Athens, Istanbul and Madrid. His first experiences in the Swiss film industry soon led him to Munich, where he began his studies at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF Munich) in 2012. As part of his studies, Simon realised a series of short films that received awards at numerous international festivals. Particularly successful were the two short films Beats and Nahrani, which together were shown at over 50 festivals. Simon then received his diploma from Professor Julia von Heinz in 2022.
Parallel to his studies, Simon worked as an assistant director on increasingly large productions, including the international film Euphoria with Alicia Vikander and Eva Green, the Joyn series Catacombs, and Amazon Prime production Luden. Most recently, he was involved in the third season of the successful Sky series THE PASS. Working as an assistant director enabled Simon to realise his own films with professional contacts and technical knowledge in a very elaborate manner and – despite student budgets – high-quality.
Simon Pfister lives in Berlin.
